Correspondence to: Mr Robert Din, 11 Southcote Road, Tufnell Park, London N19 5BJ. A 41 year old man presented after a road traffic accident. He was a motorcyclist travelling at 30 mph and was thrown from his motorcycle. Physical examination was unremarkable apart from a painful deformed right lower limb, with neurovascular structures intact. Radiography revealed a midshaft oblique fracture of the right tibia and fibula, with normal knee and ankle joints, as shown in fig 1. The midshaft tibia fracture was subsequently treated with a Russel Taylor interlock-

Laceration of tibialis anterior tendon complicating a closed tibial fracture: a case report.
Traumatic laceration of the tibialis anterior tendon complicating a closed tibial shaft fracture is a rare injury pattern. Only 3 such cases have been reported to date in the English literature and all were missed on initial examination. A case of a 17-year-old motorcyclist with an acute laceration of the tibialis anterior tendon resulting from a closed oblique tibial shaft fracture is presente...
متن کاملAcute tibialis posterior tendon rupture associated with a distal tibial fracture.
Tibialis posterior tendon ruptures associated with closed medial malleolar fractures are rare. This article describes the association of tibialis posterior tendon ruptures with closed, high-energy, distal tibia fractures. Tendon ruptures are likely to be identified intraoperatively or missed if clinical evaluation at acute injury is limited. A high index of suspicion is required to diagnose thi...
متن کاملSurgical Treatment of Neglected Traumatic Quadriceps Tendon Rupture with Knee Ankylosis
Quadriceps tendon rupture is an uncommon injury. This disabling condition is the result of direct or indirect trauma. It requires surgical repair to avoid poor outcomes in cases of neglected or chronic rupture. In most acute cases, simple tendon suture or reinsertion is suitable for an extensor mechanism reconstruction of the knee joint. However, chronic lesions often require a tendon graft or ...
متن کاملAvulsion fractures of tibial tuberosity in adolescents. Treatment with closed reduction and percutaneous screwing, using MRI to identify combined intraarticular lesions.
Avulsion fracture of the tibial tuberosity is an uncommon lesion generally seen in adolescents. Intra-articular lesions combined with a tibial tuberosity fracture reported in the literature are; 3 patellar tendon ruptures, 2 anterior cruciate ligament tears, 2 medial collateral ligament tears, 2 medial meniscus tears, one arcuate ligament tear, and one lateral meniscus tear. In our study, both ...
متن کاملSpontaneous rupture of the anterior tibial tendon in a diabetic patient: results of operative treatment.
UNLABELLED Spontaneous rupture of the tibialis anterior tendon is infrequently seen as a clinical entity. In this report, we describe the case of a diabetic neuropathic patient that underwent successful surgical repair of a spontaneously ruptured tibialis anterior tendon with no other factors that would render the tendon susceptible to injury or rupture. LEVEL OF CLINICAL EVIDENCE 4.
